User Reviews about Ritelite LPL792 5-LED Computer Light - Metal
I am pleased with the Ritelite 5-LED computer light. It has 2 light settings, but not much difference between the two - the lowest of the settings does cut the glare a bit. It stays where I put it for the most part, but I tend to lay it accross the hinged area of the laptop to prevent the lights from glaring on the screen. It provides sufficient light accross the keyboard for me to see the keys. Though the light doesn't go all the way accross my keyboard (I have an extended keyboard with numeric keypad to the right), it would be sufficient to go accross a standard keyboard. -- Good for the money
This light is bright enough, and provides excellent coverage over the whole keyboard. However, the blue lights that are supposed to 'reduce eye strain' do nothing of the sort. I thought they would be indirect, very soft or dim, but they are not. They run directly along the back of the lamp, pointing directly in your face. I don't know how a bright blue glare is supposed to help your eyes, it certainly does nothing good for mine. I finally resorted to the hokey solution of taping a makeshift shade (half tube split lengthwise) over the back. This blocks the blue lights AND keeps the glare of the LEDs from reflecting back off of the monitor.
The arm of the light is ok, it holds but you have to play with it to make it stay in the position you want. It's definitely short, as another reviewer mentioned. If your USB port was in the middle back of your laptop, it would not reach over the top of the monitor. Mine are on the side, so that works.
I would like this product a lot better without the blue lights, or if the manufacturer would provide an optional lampshade. -- Bright Enough, Blue Lights Hurt My Eyes
So far I've been satisfied with this light. It gives enough light to actually use it without any other light source in a dark room. I bought two, but have only used one so far. If a person plugged one in on each side of a computer, the light output would be super. The on off switch seemed to be stuck at one point so the light wouldn't turn off. That's a minor glitch since all I had to do was unplug it. The switch has since started working again. The fact there is a dim and bright setting is nice, but so far I've only used the bright. Actually, if a computer were left on all night, the Ritelite would make a great night light in the dim position. Have had the unit about a month and at this time would definitely recommend it. As for long term reliability - check back in 6 months or a year. -- LIGHT UP MY KEYS, RITELITE
light is bright, neck is flexible but doesnt sag that much.
problem is, the difference between bright and dim is like 15-20%. also the leds should have a frosted lens so it disperses light more. the sidespill is blinding in the dark and althought the light is bright it doesnt illuminate the keyboard well. only half of it is well lit although the whole immediate area is dimly lit with a blueish white light that isnt that great for seeing. it should be more of a 4000-5000kelvin bulb to make better use of the light it puts out.
also the blue lights are supposed to be soothing but it just adds to the brightness in my face.
people should also take into consideration how shiny their laptop is because my new HP's surfaces are all polished so it reflects light all over. the worst is the glare reflecting from the screen though. im gonna try placing electrical tape over the sides to concentrate the light towards the keyboard a little more see if that helps. -- not bad..not great.
This light is perfect to see your keyboard at night. I love the two levels of brightness that you can choose. Very easy to adjust and stays where you put it...a very non invasive light that does the job! I would recommend this light to everyone. -- Excellent Laptop light!!
