On first sight, the term 'nerd popular culture' looks like an oxymoron, considering that most nerds shun popular culture. However, there are certain parts of popular culture that can attract the attention of nerds.
Popular culture that includes references to obscure topics in science, arts, or philosophy is likely to be of interest to nerds. Comedies or other forms of culture that require some intelligence on part of the viewer are also likely to appeal to nerds. Examples include Monty Python, which in one episode showed a football game between German and Greek philosophers.
